Thursday update

First of all, we want to let you know that we have not had access to a computer.
The updates up to this point have been through phone messages back to the states.

This update is from Jamaica using a cell phone connected to a computer.

Thank you all for your prayers during our time here. We very much appreciate them and need them.

The Leadership Seminars in the evening have been going well. For the first three nights we have had around forty people in the sessions. It has provided some good opportunities for Jamaican pastors and lay leaders to have discussion and information regarding leadership in their churches.
The college, those attending the conference and the team have been pleased with the seminar sessions up to this point.
Tonight Rex and Mark teach.
Tomorrow Daryl and Adam teach.

We have also had some opportunities to share in schools. We have been in preschools (4 and 5 year olds), elementary schools and high schools. One of the guys had the opportunity to lead a girl, Kaycia, to the Lord. While we would love to see more fruit in these school, we know that we have been clearly presenting the Gospel and we know that God is faithful.
Please pray for the opportunities we have tomorrow at an elementary school and an orphanage.

Another blessing has been for the unity of the team during the week. Please pray that this would continue and that we would be able to finish strong.

We have also had the great privilege to connect with the students here at Fairview Baptist Bible College. There are some amazing men and women of God training for ministry here. Please pray for them.

------------
Lighter notes:
- Ken wanted me to write that he is enjoying the food (actually I bet all of the guys would say that).
- Daryl is pretty much Jamaican at heart. By the way he is interacting and enjoying his time here you wouldn't even know that he is a Boston Red Sox fan who is missing the World Series. Praise God he has the right perspective on life, ministry and sports.
- Jerk chicken is VERY good.

------------

Once again thank you for your prayers.

One last prayer request.
Prayer for our trip back to the states on Sunday.
For safety and for opportunities. On the way a couple of the guys had opportunities to share the Gospel with people they were sitting next to on the plane.

Wednesday update

Please pray for the team today as it will be their busiest day. They will visit two schools this morning, have their seminars tonight and then an evangelistic outreach event after class tonight. They have been inviting the kids from the schools to come tonight. Last night's seminar went well; most of the 40 students were there. Please pray for these last 3 nights of seminars.

An important note is that the team does not have internet access. Krista Rodgers is updating the blog via phone calls from Dave. They also wanted you to know they are one hour behind us (Pennsylvania time).

Thank you for praying!

Tuesday update from Dave Rodgers

Everything has been going well. We're working hard on the campus painting and getting some other work done around here. We've visited two schools already and have 40 people registered for the seminar. The first night went well (Monday night). Be praying for the rest of the week -- the opportunities we have in schools and orphanages and our presentations. We have had good health and things seem to be going well for the team. Thank you for your prayers.

ken's prayer requests

I'm really excited about the trip, which is only a week away!  Please consider these personal requests:

1.  My teaching time.  I'll have the very first seminar, so I hope that I'll get the team off to a positive start.  I am finalizing some teaching thoughts and ideas. Please pray that my seminar will be profitable for the students!
2.  My family (Wife and three boys).  They will be traveling home while I'm away in order to visit family.  Please pray for their safety during a four-hour drive.  My wife homeschools the boys, which she will do when she travels home.  This will be especially challenging for her in different school surroundings.  Please pray!
3.  That I will be able to lead at least 1 person to Christ throughout my tenure in Jamaica.
4.  That I will be genuinely compassionate to the orphans that I will minister to for two days.
5.  That I will be unselfish in all aspects of the ministry opportunities.

Thanks!
Ken Schultz

Students attending the seminar.

We have been planning for 15 to 20 students at our seminars throughout the week.

However, we were informed today that the school anticipates 30 people.
